Introduction from David Black, Chief Executive

Safe and reliable water and wastewater services are essential for our day to day lives, our wellbeing, and our natural world. As the economic regulator of water and wastewater companies in England and Wales, our role is to enable, incentivise and hold companies to account for providing the very best for customers, communities and the environment now and in the future. We also oversee the markets in the water sector to ensure they are working for customers. To achieve this, we’ve set ourselves three goals.

They are to:

• transform water companies’ performance;
• drive water companies to meet the long-term challenges through increased collaboration and partnerships; and
• for water companies to provide greater environmental and social value as part of delivering for customers.

The water sector is facing significant challenges and customers, regulators and Governments are clear that change is needed. Companies need to deliver greater resilience to drought, significantly better outcomes for the environment, and improved services for customers.

As we drive this change in the water sector, we have this exciting role at a Senior Director level to make a real make a difference by leading high-performing Communications team and sitting on the Executive.
